Plasma and serum tests have specific tube, volume, processing, storage and shipping requirements. Following the correct procedure helps reduce delays and specimen rejection.
Several HumanBiomics tests require plasma specimens, including TGF-β1, VEGF-A, C4a and other selected biomarkers.
MMP-9, Leptin and Osmolality are among the tests commonly submitted using serum specimens.
Confirm the required specimen volume and collection tube before preparing your sample for laboratory submission.

Double-spin preparation for more consistent TGF-β1 measurement
TGF-β1 measurement is particularly sensitive to platelet contamination. HumanBiomics provides a double-centrifugation protocol for preparing platelet-poor plasma before testing.
Residual platelets can release stored TGF-β1 and may contribute to artificially elevated measurements. Proper platelet-poor plasma preparation helps improve consistency.
